Great Ape Trust of Iowa is home to three orangutans. Azy,
an adult male, arrived in the fall of 2004 from Smithsonian's National Zoological
Park in Washington, DC. He and Dr. Robert Shumaker have been research
partners for nearly 25 years. Knobi, an adult female, came to Great Ape
Trust in early 2005 from Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha while Allie, an adolescent
female, arrived from the Denver Zoo in late 2005.
AZY Azy, a male orangutan, was born at National Zoo in 1977. He
was the first resident at Great Ape Trust of Iowa. Learn

KNOBI Knobi, an adult female orangutan, was born at Henry Doorly Zoo
on September 30, 1979 and arrived at Great Ape Trust in February 2005. Learn

Primate Research Center in Atlanta. She moved to the Denver Zoo in 1999 and Great
